A GWANDA woman had to seek refuge at her neighbour's homestead after she was attacked by a fellow villager in the middle of the night who f*ndled her breasts and demanded sex, the court heard.
The woman, 37, of Mahlokohloko village under Chief Masuku has dragged her neighbour, Mgcini Ndlovu, 30, to court on allegations of indecently assaulting her.
She told Gwanda magistrate Sheila Nazombe on Saturday that Ndlovu visited her homestead at night while she was asleep and forcefully opened the door on the pretext that he had been sent to her by the village head. Ndlovu told the court that he was surprised why the woman was laying charges against him since they were lovers.
The woman denied Ndlovu's claim.
"I only know this man as a fellow villager and I do not know what he is talking about. On the day in question he even threatened to assault me if I refused to have sex with him," said the woman.
Ndlovu was remanded out of custody to today for continuation of trial.
Prosecutor Edward Ndlovu narrated how the accused person unlawfully entered the woman's house and indecently assaulted her around midnight on March 9, this year.
"The accused person went to the complainant's homestead and found her asleep with her three children. He knocked and lied to the complainant that he had been sent by the village head to collect names of beneficiaries of the Red Cross food programme. He ordered the complainant to open the door and she refused but he forced the door open.
"While in the hut, he demanded sex from the complainant. He then moved closer to the complainant who was holding a baby and started f*ndling her breasts," said Ndlovu.
The complainant tried to push Ndlovu away but he continued f*ndling her breasts and threatened to assault her with a hoe handle if she resisted, the court heard.
"The complainant left the accused and ran to her neighbour's house for help and at around 4am, the complainant and her neighbours saw the accused person leaving the homestead. In the morning, she asked the village head if he had sent the accused person but he said he had not," the court was told.
