Lady candidate for Gwanda town clerk?

ZANU-PF councilors in the municipality of Gwanda are reportedly pushing for the appointment of incumbent chamber secretary Priscilla Nkala.
The issue has reportedly divided Zanu-PF with some councilors reportedly against the idea as they feel Nkala has been failing to execute her duties as chamber secretary and being a town clerk would be too much for her.
A councilor who confided to Bulawayo24 said Nkala's trump card is that she is also Zanu-PF.
Zanu-PF has seven of the ten seats in the Gwanda municipality.
Councilors meet this week to start enlisting applicants for interviews after almost a hundred people applied for the job.
The new town clerk is set to resume duties in June when incumbent Gilbert Mlilo retires.
Mlilo was last week ranked the second-highest paid town clerk in Zimbabwe by finance minister Patrick Chinamasa with a monthly package of almost $21 000.
Although interviews are yet to be conducted a Zanu-PF Councillor who requested anonymity said the issue was a forgone conclusion and Nkala would be the next town clerk.
"The interviews would be a mere formality, the panel that is going to do the interviews has been bribed to elect Nkala as she is in a relationship with one of the councilors, however we will fight to the end," said the councilor who requested anonymity.
Former housing director Thuso Maphala has reportedly had his application thrown out over his alleged links with MDC.
Meanwhile Gwanda residents have called for transparency in the selection process saying the next town clerk should be chosen on merit and not by corrupt means.
"We want a town clerk who will change the face of town and that person can only be chosen by merit, we therefore urge the interviewing panel to fight forces of corruption and make sure the right person is appointed," said Themba Moyo of Senondo.
