A Gwanda woman from Phakama high-density suburb is appealing for help to raise $13 000 needed to allow her nine-year-old son to urgently undergo surgery to remove a brain tumour in Harare.
The desperate mother, Senzelwe Moyo, told the Southern Eye that her son Lesego was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier this year and is currently admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital in the capital.
He is awaiting surgery at the Avenues Clinic to remove the growth should she manage to raise the required amount.
"We are appealing to well-wishers to assist us in cash or kind as we try to raise the amount. Once the money is raised, he will undergo surgery," she said.
She said the Avenues Clinic was demanding cash up front to perform the surgery. She said those willing to assist can call her on 0715 579 451 or send cash via EcoCash mobile number 0772 603 759 or her POSB account number 300310007960.
Gwanda Ward 7 councillor Jastone Mazhale said the local leadership was touched by the plight of the boy and urged members of the public and the business community to assist in every way possible.
