A PLUMTREE domestic worker dated his employer's 15-year-old daughter for a year and impregnated her right under his boss's nose.

The juvenile's mother, Eunice Zibani who teaches at a local school, learnt of the development on March 31 after returning from a three-month trip to South Africa.

Upon her return Zibani was shocked to find her daughter eight months pregnant.

Her shock turned to fury after the juvenile disclosed that the father of her child was 25-year-old Mike Tshuma who had worked in Zibani's farm for a year.

The child, now 17, told her mother that the love affair started in January last year and she fell pregnant in July.  Tshuma who is now an airtime vendor was later dismissed from work in August after assaulting his employer for questioning him about his association with her daughter.

Tshuma appeared before Plumtree magistrate Gideon Ruvetsa facing charges of having sex with a minor.

He was sentenced to nine months in prison. Three months of his sentence were suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit an offence of a similar nature.

The remaining six months were converted to 210 hours of community service which he has to perform at the Plumtree Magistrate's Court.

In his statement in court Tshuma said he had agreed with the teenager to hide the affair from her mother.

"When I proposed love to her, my intention was to wed her and that is still my intention. I however realised that her mother would not approve of our affair because of the kind of job that I was doing and that is why we hid the affair from her.

"She is bitter with me and she does not even approve of me addressing her as my mother-in-law but I truly want to wed her daughter," said Tshuma.

Prosecuting Medica Tshuma said the pair started having sex on January 8 last year.

"On January 1 last year Tshuma proposed love to (the teenager) who was 15 years old at the time. They started having sex on January 8 last year. Mpofu's mother discovered that her child was pregnant in March this year and ordered her daughter to end the relationship.

"The matter was reported to the police resulting in Tshuma's arrest," he said.
