THE bodies of 15 suspected Zimbabwean border jumpers who drowned while crossing the crocodile infested Limpopo River have been recovered in a cave at the river.
Police suspected the bodies, some of which had missing limbs, had been hidden in the cave by crocodiles.
Only one of the bodies is yet to be identified.
The bodies are at Musina Government mortuary in South Africa.
South African police said yesterday that they were working with their Zimbabwean counterparts in facilitating the repatriation of the bodies.
Acting chairman of the district civil protection unit Mr Peter Moyo said it was worrying that people continued to lose their lives in the Limpopo River rather than applying for proper travel documents which are readily available in the country.
Authorities find it difficult to understand why people choose to pay $150 to those who smuggle them across the border the border when they can get a passport for $53 and travel safely.
