Matabeleland South provincial Head of Youth and Economic Empowerment Elphas Siziba is demanding answers on why youths from the province are being shunned from a government empowerment programme.
Siziba told New Ziana, Ilanga newspaper that most business proposals from Mat South had not been considered despite the fact that normal procedures had been followed.
Siziba said out of the 800 project proposals that were submitted by the province last year only 102 had received funding.
The youth empowerment programme is being funded through CABS.
Siziba said no concrete reasons were being given for the rejection of the project proposals and there was need for clarity on the issue.
Youths from Mat South have in the past complained of being marginalized in government programmes adding they are continuously being denied their share of the national cake.
Ironically last year the then minister of Youth and empowerment Savior Kasukuwere said almost a million dollars meant for Mat South youths was stuck at CABS as there were no takers.
The majority of youths in Zimbabwe are unemployed and have resorted to income generating projects to irk a living, however most of them say they need capital to start their projects.
