An attempt to pass a vote of no confidence against Zanu PF Matabeleland South chairperson Andrew Langa ahead of the party's December national congress has hit a brick wall.

This follows a warning against such a move by Zanu PF national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo.

Khaya Moyo who together with Langa belong to a faction led by Vice President Joice Mujuru last week warned party members not willing to work with the provincial chairperson.

"Khaya Moyo's warning is pregnant with meaning. He may appear warning those who do not respect Langa but the truth is that there were plans to pass a vote of no confidence against the provincial chairperson," a party deep throat said.

"This has become a factional thing, Khaya Moyo is protecting his interest of becoming Vice President and wants Langa to drum up support ahead of the congress."

Those fingered as brains behind Langa's ouster include Matabeleland South provincial affairs minister Abednicho Ncube and Home Affairs minister Kembo Mohadi of the faction led by Justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa.
