A Gweru man who assaulted his wife for accompanying her mother to town without his consent has been sentenced to six months imprisonment.
Patrick Ndlovu, 28, of Ascot suburb was convicted on his own plea by Sithembiso Ncube.
Ndlovu will however serve an effective three months after three months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
For the state Daniel Tafuma told the court that on June 3 this year, the complainant Patricia Mtandwa accompanied her mother to town and spent the better part of the day away with her.
The court further heard that upon her arrival back home, she found her husband seething with anger and he demanded to know where she had been.
Mtandwa's explanation apparently further angered her husband.
Ndlovu told the complainant that she should have sought his permission first before going to town.
Ndlovu then went berserk and started assaulting his wife with open hands all over the body.
Later in the evening, Mtandwa's sister, Gracious Chinyanga, 20, came to see her and was also assaulted by Ndlovu.
