AN unidentified man was killed and thrown onto a railway line in Beitbridge on Wednesday morning, police have confirmed.
The Officer commanding Beitbridge District, Chief superintendent Patrick Majuta said they had since sent the body for a post-mortem at the United Bulawayo Hospitals.
He said no arrests had been made so far.
The body was found on the railway track nearly 20km along the Beitbridge Masvingo road.
"The body was discovered by members of the community on Wednesday morning who then alerted the police. We are investigating a case of murder. We suspect he was killed and had his body dumped near the railway line," Chief Supt Majuta said.
He said they were appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.
Chief Supt Majuta said intensive investigations were underway.
The incident comes a few months after a 47-year-old man was fatally crushed by a goods train near Makhado area at the 234km peg along the Beitbridge Bulawayo railway line in an incident police suspected to be suicide.
Recently, a couple from the same area was fatally crushed by a Bulawayo-bound passenger train they had been waiting for while sleeping on the tracks near Makhado area.
The two had slept on the rail tracks on the understanding that they would wake up at the sound of the train.
