A 19-year-old Gwanda teenager is facing a murder charge after he allegedly fatally stabbed a friend on the throat with an Okapi knife, accusing him of being a bully.
It is reported that Austin Ncube (19) accused the now deceased (name withheld because he is a minor) of bullying his young brother.
According to the state outline: "The accused asked the deceased what he was doing to his brother and deceased challenged why the accused was intervening.
"The accused got infuriated and drew an Okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed the deceased once on the right side of the throat inflicting a deep wound."
Further, the accused withdrew the knife and fled from the scene leaving the deceased bleeding profusely and struggling to go home for assistance.
"Honest Siziba then accompanied the deceased home and on the way deceased's condition deteriorated. They got into Siwela Ndlovu's homestead where he later died," read the outline.
However, in his warned and cautioned Ncube, while he admitted stabbing the deceased, he denied the charge of murder saying he was provoked by the deceased.
"The deceased provoked me by attacking my young brother, and I was acting in self-defence by preventing harm to my young brother," he said.
The accused is expected to appear at the Bulawayo High Court where he will be charged with murder.
