A FORM Four pupil who dropped out of school earlier this year after falling pregnant has dragged her married boyfriend to the Maintenance Court demanding money to buy clothes and other items for the unborn baby.

Amanda Mkhwananzi, 18, was doing Form Four at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in Victoria Falls when Justine Kaunda, 24, who plays for lower division club Technos in the resort town, impregnated her six months ago.

Kaunda is married to another woman and the couple have a nine-month-old child.

Mkhwananzi told magistrate Sharon Rosemani that her boyfriend had initially denied responsibility but later changed his mind.

She said she now wanted him to buy clothes for their unborn baby.

"We're in a relationship and I'm now six months pregnant.

"He had denied the pregnancy for the past two months but now he has agreed to take responsibility. I was in Form Four at Mosi-oa-Tunya this year and I had to drop out after I fell pregnant," said Mkhwananzi.

She said Kaunda was a soccer player and could therefore afford to pay the money she required.

"I'm married with one child but I didn't tell her that. I don't earn much because at the club one can only play soccer when employed by the company and sometimes I work as a general hand for a month and that is only when I can play in the team," said Kaunda.

Rosemani ordered Kaunda to pay Mkhwananzi $150 in two installments.
