In a classic tale of reversal of roles, a Gweru man allegedly engaged the services of a prostitute and stole her smart phone and cash before disappearing into the night.
Michael Bhizeki, 19, of Mkoba Village 1, appeared before Gweru magistrate Florence Nago facing allegations of nicking Tendai Machicha's Samsung Galaxy S3 and $50 cash.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Tuesday next week on $50 bail for sentencing.
Prosecuting, Bernard Nyoni said on July 15 at 10PM, Machicha of Mkoba Village 1 met Bhizeki at Mkoba Village 2 bus stop and agreed to have sex with him for a fee.
He told the court that Machicha and Bhizeki were known lovers but on that day the two had agreed to have sex at the complainant's residence on the condition that the latter would pay for services rendered.
Nyoni said while at the house, Bhizeki took the complainant's Samsung Galaxy S3 mini phone and started viewing some photos. He said there was a $50 note stuck between the cover and the phone.
Nyoni said Bhizeki continued scrolling his lover's phone until the woman fell asleep.
Upon realising that the complainant was fast asleep, Nyoni said Bhizeki stealthily went outside with the phone pretending as if he was going to the toilet.
The court heard that a few minutes later, the complainant heard Bhizeki's footsteps outside the house.
Nyoni said Machicha went outside to investigate and saw Bhizeki running away with her cellphone and cash.
The complainant reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Bhizeki.
