A MUM of two nearly lost a breast after her caretaker landlady bit her in a fight over an unpaid Zesa bill.

Thandeka Ndlovu, 25, of Chinotimba was treated and discharged at Victoria Falls Hospital but claims her breast could be damaged as it is discharging pus.

Ndlovu had been a tenant for seven months at a house in Chinotimba where Debra Tendai Gurure, 34, is caretaker in the absence of the owner of the house.

Gurure was supposed to appear in court yesterday charged with assault but prosecutors returned the docket to the police station for further investigations as police have to record statements from witnesses.

According to the docket, the two women fought last week.

"She has always been insulting me and it was clear she didn't like me living at that house. On Thursday last week she came and poked me in the face with her finger and started pushing me as I was washing plates. She then suddenly sunk her teeth into my breast and I struggled to free myself. I am in deep pain as we speak," said Ndlovu.

She said she was supposed to go back to a doctor for review.

"She lied to the police that no one witnessed the fight yet a neighbour tried to restrain us before she bit me. After that she pulled out a knife and threatened to stab me," said Ndlovu in her statement.

The fight started following a misunderstanding over payment of $315 for water as Gurure claimed Ndlovu refused to pay for Zesa.

Gurure is denying the charges alleging Ndlovu started the fight.

"I did not start the fight. She was refusing to pay for Zesa and she then started beating me. All I want is for her to pay the outstanding balance," she told police.

Ndlovu has since moved out of the house.
