Drowned teen's uncle camping at Ncema on Friday evening
Police have finally recovered the body of an 18-year-old man who drowned in one of Bulawayo's water supply Dams, Ncema on Thursday while swimming with a friend.
The body was pulled from the dam at around 8.55am today.
The police Sub aqua unit finally arrived at the scene from Chikurubi on Friday, citing transport challenges.
The teen's relatives have been camped at the dam site since the tragedy occurred, vowing not to move until police came and retrieved the body.
Villagers told Bulawayo24 News that they had to collect the police team from the main road on Friday evening as did not know the way to the dam.
"We met the divers, the search would be done tomorrow (Saturday). They complained that it was too dark for them to start diving in search of the body," said a villager.
On Thursday, another Villager told Bulawayo24 News that the teen could have been weighed down by his clothes when he drowned.
"The deceased was advised to take off his clothes but refused. He went into the dam with his shoes, jeans and shirt," the villager said.
