AN enraged Gokwe businessman embarrassed his wife by forcing her to walk undressed in broad daylight over allegations of infidelity.
Chengetanai Takawira (27) reportedly dragged his wife Matilda Vurandi to the streets undressed. It is reported that Takawira allegedly discovered that his wife was having an extra-marital affair and had stolen $1,500 to squander with her boyfriend.
A WhattsApp message "sold" out the woman as the boyfriend had sent a message thanking her for spoiling him.
Takawira forgave his wife, but the woman took his generosity for stupidity, it would appear, and continued with her said illicit affair.
He then got information that she had been spotted going to her aunt's place and he followed her. Hell broke loose when he got to the aunt's place at around 9am. The woman failed to give satisfactory answers on why she had just left without notifying him. Takawira thoroughly bashed the woman and as if that was not enough, he dragged her undressed down the street.
He then threw the woman into his car and drove to their matrimonial home where upon arrival; he took a leather belt and assaulted her all over the body. Vurandi reported the matter to the police leading to her husband's arrest.
He was dragged to Gokwe courts where he appeared before magistrate Mr Shepherd Mjanja. Takawira pleaded guilty to the charges and asked the court to be lenient with him saying that his wife provoked him.
He revealed that he failed to control his temper because the woman was continuing with her illicit affair despite the fact that he had once forgiven her.
The magistrate slapped him with five months imprisonment or $300 fine and in addition four months were wholly suspended on condition of three years of good behaviour.
