Zanu PF abandon Enos Nkala widow

Zanu PF has abandoned the widow of the late controversial and founding party member Enos Nkala.

Nkala who played an instrumental role in the Gukurahundi massacres that claimed the lives of 20 000 PF Zapu supporters in Midlands and Matabeleland died before the July harmonised elections last year.

The plight of Nkala's widow was raised in Parliament by MDC legislator Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga  presenting a motion about the plight of war veterans and their dependants.

"When they are supposed to go to hospital no one cares about which hospital they go to. I have an example right now, Mr. Speaker, and I do not have to speak of examples elsewhere. We buried Enos Nkala a few months ago," said Mushonga.

"His wife has been critically ill for the last two months. It has been his children that have paid all the medical bills because the amount of money that you give to the dependants and the wives of those national heroes is literally peanuts.

"They used to get US$26 a month Mr. Speaker, but now it has gone up to US$100 a month and this person is supposed to look after themselves.

"We cannot come into this House and take political platforms and pretend that we care about the liberation struggle when we are acting the opposite.

" It is wrong and we are not being honest to each other. I do not understand and this is the thing that sometimes makes me quite sad about being a politician."
