Dad threatens goblin terror on cleared 'rapist'

A FATHER in Mberengwa has threatened to unleash goblins on a man who was acquitted of charges of raping his 15-year-old daughter.
Mr Dumisani Janas was found not guilty of rape by a Gweru magistrate last month, after the State failed to prove a prima facie case against him.
A friend to the father of the girl who claimed to have been raped, Mr Thomas Maponga, showed Sunday News the medical report.
"There is no reason for him to be saying all sorts of things. He must accept the court ruling and sit down and stop threatening people with goblins. The best advice which some of us have been giving him is to appeal," Mr Maponga said.
"What hurts the family is that on a daily basis they are seeing the man around the village and when they think of that incident their temperature rises. He insists that he did not rape the girl and there is nothing we can do since the court made a judgment."
The girl who is doing form three claimed to have been raped in February.
Contacted for comment, the disgruntled father from Masase said he was "not withdrawing my words because the rapist has to pay for what he did".
"He will pay for what he did. I cannot sit back and watch someone destroying the future of my child in front of my eyes. He will be a lesson to other rapists in this community," he fumed.
"Since the court found him not guilty then I will do what is in my powers and will show him the real me. I will do everything to punish him and you will see. I took the matter to court hoping that justice was going to be done but the judgment shocked me.
"The rape pained me because my daughter had to stay for the whole term without going to school. She was terrified and afraid to be seen by her classmates. Her morale is still low and this will certainly affect her performance."
Sunday News is in possession of a medical report from Zvishavane District Hospital stating that the girl was found not pregnant and did not contract HIV or any sexually transmitted disease.
Mr Janas confirmed that he had been threatened but vowed to ignore the threats as he did not rape the girl.
"The court made a ruling and they must respect that. I am being insulted on a daily basis and threatened with all sorts of issues ranging from goblins to snakes. They just want to fix me but I will not entertain their actions," Mr Janas said.
