Another Toyota Granvia has crushed in Gwanda critically injuring all 11 people on board.

The accident happened on Friday morning at Mawane village about 40kms outside Gwanda Town on the Gwanda - Manama Road. Witnesses on the scene of the accident indicate that the vehicle burst a front tyre and veered off the road rolling several times before landing on its right side.

Witnesses claim that lives were spared because the driver was not travelling at a high speed at the time of the accident. Witnesses claim that the driver did his best to keep the vehicle under control after the tyre burst but eventually lost control of it when it plunged into a storm water drain at the edge of the road.

The accident comes a few weeks after another Toyota Granvia burst a rear tyre 20kms before Gwanda on the Bulawayo highway killing four people on the spot. The government through the Ministry of Transport has for a long time now been contemplating removing the Toyota Granvia from being used as a public service vehicle due to its high accident rate most of them due to a tyre burst or high speed.
