ZANU PF woman of the moment Grace Mugabe heads to Gwanda, Matabeleland South, and today for the sixth leg of her Meet The People Tour where she is expected tom meet the provincial leadership.
The tour has since taken her to Mashonaland West, the Midlands, Harare, Masvingo and Manicaland provinces. Zanu-PF provincial chairman for Mat South Andrew Langa, who is also the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, said the stage was set for Mugabe's rally.
He urged people from the province to attend the rally in their numbers and confirmed that all the senior politicians from Matabeleland South were already in Gwanda ahead of Mugabe's visit.
"We have covered a lot of ground in terms of logistics and we are very hopeful that we will fill the 30 000-seater Pelandaba Stadium," Langa was quoted by the State-run Chronicle today.
"As the provincial leadership, we have mobilised over 15 buses, trucks and small vehicles from colleagues and the community for transporting people from all the seven administrative districts to Gwanda," he added.
"As you are aware, a mother is the backbone of every household and we are all excited and ready to receive her guidance and leadership.
"The First Lady is a mother figure to all the citizens and hence we are saying everyone is welcome to attend the rally at the stadium," Langa said.
Mugabe has been on a whirlwind tour of the country's provinces to thank supporters for endorsing her nomination to assume leadership of the Zanu-PF Women's League at the party's December elective Congress.
After the Gwanda rally, the First Lady is expected to take her tour to Lupane at Somhlolo Stadium in Matabeleland North tomorrow (Tuesday) and is scheduled to hold another rally in Bulawayo at Amazulu Sports Club on Wednesday.
