PARENTS, whose children had become clients of a woman specialising in terminating pregnancies, had her arrested.
Gertrude Ndlovu, 33, from Bhizeni area in Tsholotsho under chief Gampu was nabbed after reportedly masterminding more than 15 abortions and it is alleged several women died after the termination of pregnancies.
The parents of the victims filed a case under CR26/10/14 at Tsholotsho Police Station. Ndlovu reportedly carried out abortions on more than 15 females, including teenage girls in the area.
However, she ran out of luck on 17 October when she was reported to the police after the parents of a teenage girl (name supplied) discovered that the victim was no longer pregnant.
"Ndlovu is an expert in carrying out abortions. The parents of the victim are based in South Africa. When they came last week for a visit they found the teenage girl was no longer pregnant. The parents in question got worried and asked their child why she was no longer pregnant. She revealed that she had to abort because her boyfriend denied responsibility. She disclosed that Ndlovu helped her to abort," said the source.
The tell-it-all source told B-Metro that the accused had been helping school-going children to abort at a low cost.
"Most of the school-going children who could be doing Form Three or Four flock to her homestead to abort reportedly at $5 or R50," said the source.
The insider said it was suspected that after Ndlovu conducted abortion on a teenage girl from the area she died.
The insider also revealed that Ndlovu is suspected to be behind the death of a late married woman whose husband is based in South Africa.
"A married woman, who was impregnated by her secret lover, went to Ndlovu and aborted. She died after two days. She aborted in fear of her husband who is based in South Africa," said the source.
The source also disclosed that several women had died due to abortions carried out by Ndlovu.
"A number of women have died after aborting, she has several graves under her name," said the source.
