A FILABUSI family was last week forced to abandon their homestead after being tormented by goblins.

Mr Victor Nkomo (39), his wife Oxilia, their daughter and three nephews fled the Mleja Village homestead Mr Nkomo inherited from his father after Mrs Nkomo was mysteriously beaten by unseen beings which reportedly slapped her until she fell unconscious.

"I was with Mrs Nkomo just a few hours before the incident happened and it was around 6pm. I was surprised to see a child coming to summon us around 8pm. She told us that her aunt was no longer speaking. When we got there she was lying down and she could not say a word to us," said a source.

Sources told Sunday News that Mrs Nkomo got better after a local prophet prayed for her and the family decided to abandon the home a few days later.

Narrating the ordeal, Mr Nkomo told this reporter that he was not around when the incident happened but suspected some members of the community to be behind the mysterious forces.

"Kwathi kusenzakala umonakalo lo mina ngangingekho, ngatshayelwa ucingo ngisemsebenzini. (When the incident happened, I was not around. I just received a call when I was at work)," Mr Nkomo said.

"I went there the following day and there was a prophet and other members of the community who were praying for my wife and I am happy that she is now fine. I decided to leave my father's home for good because I was now tired of these mysterious encounters. I cannot say much at the moment. Even when my father was alive he was rarely visiting home. I cannot say where these things are coming from but I think there are some members of the community who are behind this and I will not say who."

Some of the villagers said they were shocked to see the family relocating.

"I heard of the unpleasant incident but I never thought it would go to the extent of the abandonment of the home. We saw Mr Nkomo taking his property from the old home to establish his new home. He told us that he has had enough of terror and he would never go back to his father's home," said a villager only identified as Nqobi.

The village head, Mr Mali Nkomo confirmed the incident.

"I know about the family and I understand that they have relocated but I do not have any idea why he left the place where his father lived," said the village head.
