Woman steals beer at TM for ancestors

MATABELELAND NORTH - A Victoria Falls woman Mayibongwe Nkomo allegedly got into a TM shop and stole beer in order to conduct a ceremony to appease her ancestral spirits.
A Victoria Falls Court heard that sometime last month Nkomo, 35 got into the TM shop and stole other goods including cosmetics and hair pieces but pretended as if she had purchased the goods. Her luck ran out when alert guards nabbed her on her way out.
Upon being probed by cops Nkomo revealed that she wanted to use the beer for a ceremony to appease ancestral spirits.
She also said she stole the goods whose value is $110 to so that she gets money for her child's school fees saying the child's father was refusing to support her.
Nkomo pleaded guilty to theft charges and was sentenced for 72 hours of community service.
