A Nkayi man reportedly barred his ex-lover from dating other men ordering her to stay single because he was jealous and could not stand seeing her in company of another man.
Sylvester Dube (32) landed himself in trouble when he thumped his ex-lover Edna Nyoni (23) after he saw her walking with her newly found love.
Circumstances are that on 22 October, Nyoni was in company of her new lover when they met Dube.
He then started questioning her why she was failing to follow simple rules.
He reminded her that on the day they parted ways, he told her to stay single because he still loved her and had hope that one day they will be together again.
The fuming Dube then became violent and started assaulting Nyoni and he turned on the newly found lover when he tried to save the woman, giving him a thorough hiding as well.
Dube then force marched Nyoni to his friend's place where he beat her up accusing her of being disrespectful and trying to team up with her boyfriend to kill him.
Nyoni was saved by neighbours who alerted police and Dube was arrested. He was hauled before Nkayi magistrate Ndumo Masuku and he pleaded guilty to the charges.
He left the court in stitches when he revealed that he suspects Nyoni put some love portions in his food because he was failing to forget or let her go.
He then told Nyoni to make him 'vomit' whatever she gave him or stay single for the rest of her life.
Dube was remanded in custody to 10 November for sentence and Nyoni produced doctor's report as exhibit which confirmed that she sustained serious injuries and lost two teeth.
