A 32-YEAR-OLD teacher at Kwite Primary School in Mangwe is set to appear in court for bedding a 14-year-old former pupil at the school.

Celestian Matsika allegedly proposed love to the juvenile last year when she was in Grade Seven. This year he took the relationship with the school dropout to another level as the girl frequently spent long hours at his house where they allegedly had sex.

The relationship which had remained a secret for more than a year came to light after the girl's uncle, Zwelithini Vundla, found his niece who had gone missing from home, at the teacher's house.
Matsika said he was supposed to appear in court last week on Thursday but the matter had been postponed pending investigations.

He claimed he did not know that his lover was underage and referred further questions to his lawyer. An official at the school who preferred anonymity said Matsika who stays at the school would send pupils to invite the complainant to his house, so that he could have sex with her.

"Matsika was dating this girl who is a former pupil at the school and it appears that the relationship started during the time when she was learning at the school.

"Each time Matsika would send for the girl. Pupils would call her and she would proceed to the teacher's house where they would have sexual intercourse. The girl would tell her parents that she was going to work at the family garden," said the official.

There was pandemonium at the school on November 7 after the girl's uncle found her at the teacher's house.  The matter is currently being handled by police and the courts.
