Members of the public at a taxi rank in Gwanda have been left shell shocked after a three meter python dropped off a parked car.

The incident took place in full day light at the busy Zebrine Taxi Rank where people board local taxis.

According to witnesses on site an unidentified man driving a silver sedan parked very briefly at the rank and quickly left at a high speed. While people were still surprised by the man's sudden departure at a high speed, people walking past where the car was parked immediately saw a huge snack exactly at the point where the car was parked.

A crowd of people led by rank marshals and taxi drivers immediately pounce on the snake an killed it using stones and sticks. When the crowd turned around to look for the car where the snake came from, the vehicle was nowhere to be found.

There have been several rumours of snakes being used as sources of making money in Zimbabwe recently. In one incident in Harare a lady driving a top of the range Land Rover dumped a dead 5 meter python in the middle of a street in the capital's CBD. In another incident that was never confirmed, a snake is said to have come out of a parked car an withdrew cash from an ATM.

Speaking at the scene of the incident, one MaTshuma who says she is a traditional healer from Beitbridge, says that people get snakes from Malawi to get them money here and when they are done using them the order is that they must be dumped at a busy public place where people will obviously kill it. She however was quick to warn members of the public against killing such snakes at it might bring bad luck to those who would have killed it.
