Tsholotsho Stadium construction begins

THE Tsholotsho community has embarked on an ambitious programme that will see the area having a stadium ready for Premiership football by the end of next month.
The construction will be funded by the council and its partners after a sober realisation of the immense investment opportunity that will come with the arrival of Premiership football.
The resolution was made at a meeting attended by various stakeholders on Wednesday morning which was called by the Tsholotsho Rural District Council.
"We came up with a sound resolution that this team should and must be based here in Tsholotsho. As I speak work is already underway and a deadline of February 26 was set," said the chairperson of the construction committee, Sicelo Dube.
He said construction workers were on a 24-hour working programme with their priority being the VIP area and the ablution facilities.
"The ground has already been levelled while ablution facilities will be the next in line as well as the VIP arena. A perimeter fence will be erected around the stadium where we'll put sails during our games," said Dube who was quick to say that a durawall would eventually be put up during the season.
In two weeks time, the lawn will be bought and immediately laid.
"The community of Tsholotsho and surrounding areas should brace for Premiership football in March, we're not going back on that one because we too want to enjoy our proper home support," said Dube, a headmaster at Tsholotsho High School and respected member of the community.
He also revealed that the stadium would be called Tsholotsho Stadium.
If the stadium construction dream becomes a reality, the face of Tsholotsho will never be the same again with development of other key sectors in the district set to pick up pace too.
Tsholotsho Football Club started their preparations for Premiership life on Monday with club secretary Melody Ndlovu describing the turn up as impressive and encouraging.
Under Lizwe Sweswe, the club lost only a single match in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League last year as they marched into the elite league where it is hoped, they will be able to stand their ground against seasoned and battle-hardened campaigners.
