In a blood curling incident, a Redcliff man killed his girlfriend after she told him she was pregnant with his child.
The man, Freddy Savanhu (30), appeared at the Gweru High Court for the murder of his now late girlfriend Thandiwe Ndlovu. He pleaded guilty before Justice Lawrence Kamocha.
Prosecutor Mirirai Shumba told the court that on 16 July last year, the two lovebirds were walking along a footpath near Torwood Cemetery heading towards Q Section suburb.
Ndlovu then told Savanhu that she was pregnant with his child.
A misunderstanding arose between the two and Savanhu assaulted Ndlovu.
He went on to strike her with a stone on the right side of her head. Ndlovu started bleeding from the nose and sustained other injuries which led her to instant death. After committing the crime, Savanhu ran away and Ndlovu's body was ferried to the hospital by passerby.
Savanhu was found guilty of murder and he was slapped with 20 years imprisonment.
Judge Kamocha said Savanhu was guilty of murder with constructive intent.
