AN ex-convict, who raped a 91 year old granny saying he could not resist her legs as she was wearing a mini-skirt, has been jailed for 15 years. Gwanda regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza on Friday convicted Ndlovu on his own plea of guilty.
Medical reports showed the victim was 83 years old and not 91 as had earlier been stated by prosecutors.
The State failed to find records for Ndlovu's previous convictions, although he told the court he finished serving a seven year sentence for statutory rape at Khami prison, in October last year.
Barely a month after being freed, he pounced on the old woman and raped her.
In his defence, he said he thought the woman was much younger because her legs did not look like those of an old woman.
Magistrate Mabeza said Ndlovu need to be punished for raping a woman almost three times his age.
Ndlovu allegedly found the victim alone at her homestead and asked for water to drink.
He allegedly followed the woman into kitchen water where she had gone to fetch the water and threatened her with a knife.
He said he would kill her if she resisted or made noise.
He then raped her and told her he would return at night to kill her if she told anyone.
The woman told a neighbour who accompanied her to Chief Masuku to report the incident.
A police report was made leading to Ndlovu's arrest.
