A teenage mum poisoned her seven months son before attempting to termninate her life by drinking termite poison following a misunderstanding with her lover.
Thokozile Ndebele, 18, from Guqukani Village in the Tshitshi area, first fed her baby with the termite poison before drinking it herself on Monday evening.
According to the Chronicle, Ndebele and her son were rushed to Plumtree District Hospital where she is battling for her life but her son, Conwell Mhlanga, died.
The incident occurred at around 10PM.
Ndebele who is admitted at Plumtree District Hospital where she is under police guard said her lover Kidiboni Mhlanga, had been mistreating her.
The young woman who appeared to be in severe pain as she was struggling to speak, said her lover got angry after she dumped him for being involved with several women.
Ndebele said thereafter Mhlanga started threatening to kill her.
