Mqokolweni High School in Mangwe District has reportedly suspended 25 O-Level students, including girls, for 10 schools days after they were caught smoking cannabis.
One of the girls who claimed to have bought a twist from a local homestead for 5R told 'The Chronicle' that they only "wanted to know how cannabis 'tastes' and how it feels to be high."
It is alleged that some of the students smoked in order to boost their performance in athletics.
A mother to a suspended boy told the newspaper that she was disgruntled with the manner in which the school authorities handled the matter.
She reportedly said some of the cannabis was "being sold from shops."
