A self-styled Bulilima prophet who allegedly raped a his 22-year-old neighbour and threatened to cast an evil spell on her if she told anyone, stunned a magistrate when he said he had the right to rape the woman.
Mlalameli Sibanda (41) yesterday appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Livard Philemon on initial remand facing a rape charge.
He was remanded in custody to March 25.
"I have the right to rape this woman as she is my girlfriend," declared Sibanda, shocking the magistrate.
The court heard Sibanda invited his victim to a "miracle crusade" at a local business centre.
He allegedly told her he could pray for her to find a rich husband at the crusade.
Sibanda told the woman he needed to get holy oil at his homestead and she accompanied him.
He allegedly dragged the woman into his bedroom hut and raped her once.
He then told the woman if she told anyone, he would cast an evil spell on her that would cause her to die and go to hell.
The woman went straight to the police station and reported the crime, leading to Sibanda's Sibanda.
