Maid sells boss's child for sex

Police in Zimbabwe on Wednesday arrested a domestic worker who allegedly sold the 10-year-old girl she was looking after for sex because she claimed she wasn't getting paid enough.

The mother of the child is understood to be working in South Africa and the abuse was only discovered after a teacher sent the child to hospital.

Police said the 30-year-old woman claimed the girl's mother wasn't sending enough food for her and the three children she had been left in charge of.

The state-owned Chronicle said the domestic worker arranged for one man to rape the child on several occasions at the family home in Plumtree in return for cash.

It's not clear where in South Africa the mother is based but it appears the domestic worker was taken on in January, which may be when the mother returned to her workplace.

This is the second horrifying report of child abuse by a domestic worker in Zimbabwe in the past month.
In February, a child minder was jailed for 22 years for murdering a 10-month-old baby she was looking after.

The child minder reportedly wrapped the baby in a blanket and stuffed him in a drawer because he wouldn't stop crying.
