Tsholotsho Rural District Council is loosing timber revenue to council executives.

This came out in a recent Enviroment Sub Committee meeting.

The CEO Mr Themba Moyo on being quizzed about this said council's hands were tied in this matter as they could be breaching the timber logging contracts if they took any action.

A fierce response from councillors present erupted as they felt the timber loggers are responsible for the poor state of council finances.

The CEO solution was to enter into an agreement with timber loggers to pay in kind by making furniture for council.

According to councillor Ncube of ward 9 this is a stupid solution, which is open to abuse.

Who will evaluate the value of the furniture? Why are we treating incompetent loggers with kid gloves?

A third hand is suspected in this openly corrupt arrangement.
