The trial of a Lupane Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) boss accused of assaulting the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) police officer who he accused of allegedly gossiping about him on Wednesday failed to take off as he claimed that his lawyers had not yet been served with the notice of the start of the case.
Officer in Charge Lupane CIO, Jerry Zibotshwa and his juniors whose names are yet to be obtained are accused of assaulting detective sergeant Carryon Ndebele on February 1 this while they were at Wise Waters Bar in Lupane.
The case was supposed to start on Wednesday at the Hwange Courts but it was postponed indefinitely until their lawyers are properly advised of the trial date and are served with all the documents detailing the crime.
The state is yet to serve the lawyers with the papers and trial date is yet to be set. Zibotshwa and his juniors are alleged to have approached Ndebele and accused him of going around talking bad things about him before assaulting him.
It is alleged that Zibotshwa had other five juniors and they kidnapped Ndebele after they assaulted him in public. It is alleged they were traveling in a Nissan Twin cab and they allegedly took him to their offices and further assaulted him before they later throw him out of the office and left him unconscious.
When he gained consciousness he reported the matter to his colleagues at Lupane police and investigations have led to the CIO boss and his accomplices whose names are not yet available to be summoned to court.
