THE sleepy and entertainment starved people of Binga will next Saturday get a rare treat from the king of sungura, Alick Macheso, when he visits the place for the first time ever.
Macheso will play at the DDF Shipping Services at Binga Centre in a first since the sungura artiste began his career back in the 1980s.
The previous day, the "Tafadzwa Nyarara" singer would have made a stop at Chinotimba Stadium in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
The two shows, which coincide with the local celebrations of the World Red Cross Day, were organised by the local chapter of the Global Red Cross Movement, Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and Macheso.
Baba Sharo as Macheso is fondly referred to by his legion of fans, said music lovers are in for a "special treat".
"We last performed in Victoria Falls in October 2013 and we are happy to make a memorable return to the resort town. The Binga show is our first ever in the border district and we call on all music lovers to converge at the DDF Shipping Services for a special treat," said Macheso.
Zimbabwe Red Cross Society Secretary General Maxwell Phiri, said fans should come and have fun as is always the case when Macheso performs.
"We know fans love to watch Macheso perform especially in areas starved of entertainment but these two shows are unique in that we are fundraising to ensure no one goes without food in Zimbabwe and we hope we will realise enough funds to augment what the international community is giving to us.
"Fans must, therefore, come and dance the night away at the same time bearing in mind that their dollar will help put a smile on the face of a less privileged citizen," said Phiri.
Macheso is the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society Humanitarian Ambassador.
