A GAME Scout from Mangwe allegedly flew into a rage and assaulted his ex-girlfriend after she refused to engage in sex with him in exchange for vegetables.
Tapera Ncube, 53, who works at Malalangwe Game Park gave Bekezela Sibanda some vegetables and later demanded sex from her as payment for the "gift"
Sibanda refused and this angered Ncube who then punched the woman several times and demanded his vegetables back.
Ncube was convicted by Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa of assault charges.
He was ordered to pay a $100 fine or spend 20 days in prison in case of default.
Ncube admitted assaulting his ex-girlfriend but denied having demanded sex, saying he was a married man.
"I'm married and I've four children with my wife and there's no way that I could have demanded sex from the complainant.
"I did give her vegetables but as a gift and I didn't demand payment.
"I assaulted her because she insulted me saying that I was HIV positive which isn't true. I became pissed off as she was being disrespectful to me and I don't know for what reason as we aren't together anymore," he said.
Prosecuting, Clemence Shawarira said on April 11 Ncube gave the complainant a bunch of vegetables as a gift.
On April 17 he demanded sex as payment for the vegetables.
The court heard that Sibanda refused and Ncube punched her several times in the face.
