Man's privates burnt, stabbed over $5 debt

A Nkayi man placed a red hot log on his friends private parts and stabbed him in a bid to force him pay $5 debt.

Temptation Mundwa tricked his pal Mthatshelwa Moyo into sleeping at his homestead and slept in the same room.

At night, Mundwa took a red hot log and placed on Moyo's privates.

That prompted Moyo to wake up and saw Mundwa stranding next to him.

Mundwa went on to stab Moyo several times on the left side of his chest, head and thigh.

Moyo bled profusely and collapsed.

Mundwa handed himself to the police.

 In court, he pleaded guilty to an attempted murder charge and begged for forgiveness.

"Your Worship I don't know what influenced me. I ask for forgiveness as l have a pregnant wife who is awaiting delivery and a grade two child. If I go to jail no one will look after them," he pleaded with magistrate Stephen Ndlovu.

 Ndlovu sentenced him to three years in jail, six months suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within five years.
