A Bulilima man has been jailed for one year for stealing two chickens from his neighbours claiming he had a craving for chicken meat.
Sibambiso Munkuli hid the meat under hid bed.
He was charged with two counts of stock theft.
He was sentenced to 18 months of which six months were suspended for five years.
"I stole the chickens because I wanted to eat them. It has been a long while since I last ate meat and I had a craving for chicken but I did not have money to buy," he told magistrate Livard Philemon.
The court heard that on 21 May at around 10pm he went to Siphiwe Ndlovu's homestead while she was asleep and opened the kitchen and a stole one live chicken.
He then went to Irene Dube's homestead and also stole one chicken.
Footprints leading to his homestead sold him out.
