The Gwanda Resident who is a social and political commentator has questioned the where about of journalist and democracy activist Itai Dzamara who was abducted in March 9.
He said following the disappearance of quite a number of anti Zanu-PF government activists who stood for their rights and criticised the system it appears dangerous for anyone to stand up for his or her rights in Zimbabwe.
"But really where is Itai Dzamara?" asked Maduma Fuzwayo. "The disappearance of Itai Dzamara and many others before him who just vanished into thin air, the suspicious deaths and arrests of all those who have opposing ideas to the government in place makes it very scary in this country to stand up for your rights."
"We are a timid nation, a nation living in fear and distrust of each other because there is a regime that must remain in power no matter how bad things have gone. It's not fair."
He said human nature says do good and no one will stand against you.
"If our government was so good that all our companies will be running and people employed, who would complain? If our economy was ticking so well and had our own currency in place who would complain?" he said.
"If our hospitals and health centres were indeed places for treating the sick and not keeping the sick to die who would complain? If our schools were places to educate our children not just places to help them grow, who would complain?"
Fuzwayo said if mines and farms were places to produce wealth and sustain the nation, who would complain? If the wealth of the nation was distributed amicably to all citizens of the country without regard to tribe, race and orientation who would complain?
"If those calling themselves our leaders would never lie to us and respect us as their authority not their subjects who would complain? If all those tasked with the custody of our economy would desist from corruption, greed and thievery, honestly, who would complain?" he said.
"If you want us to remain silent please do the simplest of things, just do good and we won't talk. Silencing people by kidnapping, murder hate and arrests is no solution to failures. What we are asking for is prosperity and independence in our homeland."
"Are we asking for too much? Just where is Itai Dzamara and all those gone before him?"
