Business came to a halt in Gweru on Thursday afternoon when a woman took refuge under her vehicle to deter council officials from towing it away.

Watching helplessly as your car is being towed away is a distressing experience.

A Gweru woman only identified as Mai Rasi, however, refused to be a spectator and took matters into her hands when council officials tried to tow away her white Toyota Carina along Robert Mugabe Street.

The drama started when council police clamped her vehicle despite the woman pleading she had paid for her parking disk.

When council officers came back to tow her vehicle, the incensed woman would have none of it and dived under her car.

Council had to seek the services of the ZRP to try and diffuse a potentially volatile situation.

The angry Mai Rasi only agreed to move after police had assured her she would drive her car to the station.

In the midst of the drama an overzealous soldier manhandled the ZBC cameraman and threatened to beat him for filming the incident.

Back to the centre of the drama, Mai Rasi won her case as council police backed off and drove away leaving her a free woman.
