Zim cop throws toddler out of moving car

A POLICEMAN based here has been convicted of attempted murder after he threw a-two-year-old toddler out of a moving van while drunk.
The baby had been sleeping when he fell headlong onto the road and sustained severe head injuries.
Prosper Jemoth Nhamoinesu denied the charge, but Mr Owen Tagu convicted him on the strength of overwhelming evidence provided by the State.
He was remanded in custody to September 9 for mitigation.
It is the state case that on January 16 last year, the toddler was travelling with her parents in a family car from Beitbridge towards Tuli area.
Upon arrival at Limpopo Business Centre, they found Nhamoinesu who was in the company of workmates waiting for transport to travel to Tuli.
Nhamoinesu and his colleagues were then offered a lift by the victim's father.
The accused then chose to occupy a front seat where he joined the victim's mother who was also seated in front holding the baby.
Along the way, Nhamoinesu offered to hold the baby. A few minutes later the baby fell asleep in his arms prompting the accused who was drunk to throw her outside through the window.
Soon after the incident, Nhamoinesu pretended as if nothing had happened and the victim's father stopped the car.
Nhamoinesu was arrested by his colleagues and the baby was taken to Beitbridge District Hospital for treatment.
