The government says its new education curriculum that has a bias towards science subjects is intended to equip students with requisite skills and knowledge to make a meaningful contribution towards technological advancement in the country.
This came out during the official opening of an administration block and library by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko at Masulungwane Primary School in Beitbridge West constituency.
VP Mphoko said the new library will be equipped with computers and books donated by well wishers and will enhance the learning of science subjects, which the government intends to introduce at ECD level.
The review of the education curriculum is also expected to empower students with entrepreneurial skills in response to the high rate of unemployment.
Meanwhile, Vice President Mphoko implored the people of Beitbridge to embrace the economic empowerment programmes available to Zimbabweans and not to flock to neighbouring South Africa to do menial jobs.
Ambassador Aaron Maboyi, a former pupil of the school, donated a library and administration bloc that is meant to encourage communities to contribute towards infrastructure development in their areas.
Among dignitaries who graced the occasion was State Security Minister Kembo Mohadi, legislators and the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Silvia Utete Masango.
