A WOMAN from Dete has been arrested for allegedly giving a sexual concoction commonly known as vuka vuka, to her teenage herdboy before "raping" him.
Patricia Sibanda, 50, of Tshabasitshana Village in Dete under Chief Nelukoba allegedly gave the concoction to the boy aged 17, (name withheld) on numerous occasions on the pretext that it was a cure for flue and went on to demand sex.
After a series of failed attempts, Sibanda ended up forcing herself on the boy and they had sex once on August 18 this year. The boy was down with a bout of flue when his employer pounced on him.
Sibanda was not asked to plead to an indecent assault charge when she appeared before Hwange regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga on Monday.
She was granted $100 bail and remanded to October 19 for trial.
Her lawyer Tonderai Mukuku requested for more time to prepare the woman's defence case before her trial.
Prosecuting, Bheki Tshabalala said the woman solicited for sex from the boy after giving him the concoction.
"On August 12 the accused gave the complainant some concoction commonly known as vuka vuka, claiming that it was a cure for flue," said Tshabalala.
The court heard that the boy innocently took the "medicine".
Sibanda continued to give the boy the concoction and on numerous occasions she visited his bedroom hut to solicit for sex but he refused.
"On August 18 at 11AM the accused called the complainant into her bedroom hut and started caressing him. She then gave him a condom to wear before forcibly engaged in sex with him once," said Tshabalala.
The court heard that the boy told a neighbour Pauline Dube about the incident and she helped him report the matter to the police on September 1.
