Mbembesi bridge in Bubi district has been commissioned, with stakeholders commending the completion of the bridge as a step in the right direction towards the commercialisation of Gokwe, Nkayi and Bubi districts.
Business people, public transport operators and users are grateful for the initiative to complete the construction of the bridge and part of Bulawayo-Nkayi road, raising optimism that the project will enhance the movement of traffic on the route.
Infrastructure development is critical to the province as it will expedite the movement of minerals and agricultural produce to Bulawayo.
Meanwhile, Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko is set to meet Matabeleland North province stakeholders at an indaba to discuss the upgrading of the Bulawayo-Nkayi road.
Vice President Mphoko is also expected to engage the Kuwait envoy in Harare to discuss the funding of the project.
The government is also working to upgrade the Bulawayo-Tsholotsho, Lupane-Nkayi and Binga-Siabuwa roads.
