A GWANDA woman has been granted a protection order against her abusive husband, a famous tout, who took her undergarments and threatened to bewitch her using them.
Fortunate Nare( 27) of Jahunda who is married to a famous Gwanda tout, Clement Ncube (35) on Friday dragged her husband to court seeking court protection from further abuse. Nare said she now lived in fear especially after Ncube took her panties and threatened to use them to bewitch her.
"I am now living in fear because he threatened to bewitch me. I have since moved out of our house and I am staying with my parents because he sometimes insults and assaults me at home and public places.
"He is a violent person and I am now afraid of him since he also threatened to commit suicide near my parents' house. I am now afraid of going out of the house because he keeps stalking me, I am forced to spend all my time indoors yet I need to work for my child," she said.
Ncube repeatedly said he was sorry to his wife in court and pleaded with the magistrate not to grant her the protection order saying it would make things difficult for them to reconcile. He admitted that he threatened to bewitch Nare but said he was just intimidating her.
"There is no way I can bewitch her, it was just a harmless threat. I last assaulted her about two years ago when she was pregnant, her pregnancy was always causing trouble for us.
"Your Worship, please forgive me, I love my wife. If you grant the protection order I will kill myself," Ncube said.
Ncube has been in and out of court on several occasions for different offences including fighting with fellow touts.Magistrate Olivia Mashava Mashaire ordered him not to insult, assault, harass and stop threatening to kill or bewitch Nare.
