Government urged to stop harassing journalists

Harare Residents Trust has urged the government of Zimbabwe to stop harassing journalists in the course of their duty.

In a Facebook post the trust said the arrest of journalists by the police which seems to be going on was a violation of their constitutional right to information access.

"The HRT urges the Government of Zimbabwe to stop the police from their harassment of journalists. The arrest of Sunday Mail Editor Mabasa Sasa and his team members was unjustified and uncalled for. Stop the harassment of journalists! The journalists are (sic) not the problem, corruption is the issue to be fully investigated," said the trust.
