A GOKWE man recently went berserk and withdrew his late brother's corpse from the coffin before hitting it with a tree branch until it bled at a funeral wake.
His late brother's crime - committing suicide to allegedly evade arrest. Clemence Kufaigore of Makore Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe left mourners dumbfounded when he pulled a tree brunch before beating his brother's lifeless body until it bled as punishment for taking his own life.
It is understood that Clemence's brother was involved in illegal cattle deals that were being investigated by police and was implicated by some cattle rustlers who were believed to be members of his syndicate.
He got a tip off that police wanted to raid his homestead in connection with stolen cattle that he was allegedly keeping, intending to sell them to butchery owners and fast food outlets. He committed suicide by downing poison in an attempt to evade arrest.
Chief Chireya confirmed the incident saying, Clemence will appear before his traditional court on 15 November.
"We have never seen anything like that in our area. Whatever reason he was doing that for it is against the norms and values of our African traditional culture. I have summoned him to my court so that he will explain why he did so," he said.
