Murderer confesses

A suspected notorious criminal, who was arrested in Gweru, has given chilling confessions of how he committed a spate of crimes.

Daniel Mpofu, who has been on the police wanted list, is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and rape.

After evading justice for some time, the long arm of the law finally caught up with him.

Mpofu is accused of killing one, Last Khabo of Ruby Farm in October this year.

Unlike others who shy away from cameras once they are arrested, Mpofu was at ease speaking with reporters at Gweru Rural Police Station.

"Khabo had stolen my donkeys and I did not intend to kill him but to teach him a lesson," said Mpofu, who was at ease in his confessions.

For failing to deliver a puppy after collecting US$16 from Mpofu, Bonnie of Makepesi in Lower Gweru, was left battling for life and with two broken legs.

Again, it was merely teaching him a lesson, according to Mpofu.

Mpofu is also facing charges of raping a 13-year-old girl.

For one who meets the 28-year-old Mpofu for the first time, it appears impossible to believe he is facing such heinous crimes, but of course looks can be deceiving.

He is expected to appear in court soon.
