2 injured as school collapses

Two people were critically injured when heavy rains that pounded Gwanda yesterday totally destroyed a mine owned primary school.
Sabiwa Primary Schools at Vumbachikwe Mine in Gwanda had 13 classrooms destroyed by winds that came with the heavy down pours in the area late yesterday afternoon.
Two people who are yet to be identified to media were hit by flying roofing material as they made their way past the school.
Officials at the mine said that the school is nearly completely destroyed and will take a while to be repaired and brought back to use. The damage leaves a worrying situation on what will be done to the nearly 800 children enrolled at the school.
The school which was build in the early sixties has always been a worry to people in the mine who have always complained to mine management on the state of the dilapidated infrastructure at the school.
A parent who refused to be identified thanked what he called natural justice for destroying the school with the hope that this will force the mine to build a new school.
No immediate comment child could be obtained from the mine management and ministry of education offices.
