POLICE have arrested a 25-year-old Lupane man after he was allegedly caught raping his employer's four-year-old daughter.

Mthabisi Ncube, of Lizalikwa Village, called the girl behind a hut and forced her to remove her clothes before raping her once, a court heard.

The tot was rescued by a neighbour who caught Ncube in the act, say prosecutors.

Ncube was not asked to plead when he appeared before Lupane resident magistrate Ndumo Masuku facing one count of rape.

The magistrate ordered that Ncube be examined by two doctors under the Mental Health Act due to the circumstances surrounding the crime.

He was remanded in custody to January 29.

Prosecuting, Sanders Sibanda told the court that on January 4, the tot arrived home from creche and found Ncube alone at home.

"The accused called the girl and took her behind a hut where he instructed the juvenile to lie down before he forcibly ordered her to remove her clothes," the prosecutor said.

The court heard that Ncube raped her and while in the act he was caught by a neighbour.

The juvenile was taken to St Luke's Hospital for a medical examination.
